Terrorists attack Mumbai

India’s commercial capital, Mumbai has been attacked by terrorists who took control of the city since 10pm local time last night. Said to have come by road and sea, an unknown group called the Deccan Mujahideen have claimed responsibility for the attack, however it is yet to be ascertained as to which terrorist group these people belong to.
The terrorists are said to have focused their attack on Mumbai’s landmarks, hotels major tourist sites, hospitals, Mumbai’s largest railway station and the Municipal Corporation headquarters have all been attacked primarily targeting western tourists. Latest reports state that 100 people have been killed and 900 people hurt in 10 terrorist attacks across the city.
The terrorists who look like young boys carrying AK-47 rifle’s have already killed chief of the anti-terror squad Hemant Karkare, Mumbai’s additional commissioner of police (east) Ashok Kamte and encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar.
About 400 personnel each of India’s army, navy and national security guard have all been called to aid the Mumbai police control the situation. Although the streets of Mumbai are empty, the situation now seems to be under control. With daylight breaking in Mumbai soon, the police are confident that they will be able to defeat the terrorists.
Mumbai city which usually prides itself as the city which never sleeps on Wednesday night wore a desolate look. Policemen and national guards were present on the streets which are generally crowded with people out to have a good time. Security has been heightened in all major cities. Schools, universities, offices and both stock exchanges – the NSE and BSE – are shut.
