Apr. 13 – The new April issue of China Expat magazine – a web based site with loads of features about China (check out their superb magazine archives section) is a China – India special and details the history behind the old Tea Horse Road. This was the trading route between China and India, passing either through Yunnan and into Nagaland, or via Lhasa and dropping down into Sikkim. It’s a great story and well written and illustrated. Also featured in the same issue is an article on Tibetan Pu’er tea, an account of an 1873 expedition to Tibet from Sikkim mounted by British explorer J. Ware Edgar, and pieces on Tibetan music and various book and film reviews.
The China Expat website also has a great city search function – just type in the name of the destination and a whole bunch of travel data and articles appear.
