Dec. 12 – 2point6billion.com, in conjunction with the Indian Embassy and the Capital Club in Beijing organized last night an evening of Indian culture with a twist to a crowd of 150 guests including the Ambassadors of India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, in addition to the Chinese Ambassador to India and many Indian and Chinese clients of Dezan Shira & Associates and other guests.
Displays were given by the Yogi Yoga Center in Beijing, a Chinese owned yoga center, with some amazing contortions carried out by the Indian yoga masters, by the dancer Ishira, who is originally from Yunnan by has studied Indian classical dance in India for many years, to the crack Indian fusion jazz-rock group Indian Ocean, who flew into Beijing specifically for the event following their successful sell out tour of Japan.
With an introductory speech by Madame Rao, the Indian Ambassador to China, guests were further wined and dined with food and drinks laid on by the Indian Kitchen restaurant. Lucky draw winners, including business class direct return flights from Beijing to Delhi, were donated by 2point6billion and Dezan Shira & Associates and presented to the winners by Chris Devonshire-Ellis.

It just shows how re-integrated Indian culture is starting to become in China. There is definately a resurgence of interest in India and I hear now a lot of my Chinese friends want to visit. That would not have been the case a few years ago, and the fact a Yogi centre is open in Beijing shows the cultural gap is diminishing. After this “comfort” factor is in place more bilateral trade is bound to follow. It looked a great party by the way and an impressive list of South-East Asian Ambassadors!
Its amazing how the chinese can perfect Indian dance forms. Ishira looks very Indian!

My business in Shanghai is just starting business with India and I am happy to be trading with them. Its very interesting, in parts like China in parts very different. I think though the China-India trend will grow, and the India market seems to have a lot of potential. I am selling energy products.
Thanks. It is always interesting to see the cross fertilization of cultures and with it’s huge borders the spill over from China is going to be huge. It’s really the big story of 2007 and the ongoing trend. To learn more about China’s developing trade routes with India, have a look at this thread we put up here a few days ago: http://www.2point6billion.com/2007/12/03/india-%e2%80%93-china-developing-cross-border-trade-links/

Hell you Dezan Shira folk know how to party! 15 years events in Shanghai last week and Indian parties in Beijing this!
I think this is correct, the China ‘miracle’ will spread out into other countries. Also the globalization movement is affecting other markets such as India and Russia. You’re having good insights into this, I am enjoying this website.
Hi Carlyta;
