Jun. 11 – A survey conducted by management and recruitment specialist, Antal International, showed that the number of companies expecting to hire professionals in China and India during the next quarter has improved.
The company’s quarterly survey of hiring trends, called the “Global Snapshot,” is based on survey forms and telephone interviews done by line and human resources managers from 4,217 companies, professional partnerships and financial institutions in 32 countries last April.
Respondents were asked whether if they were currently hiring or letting go of professional staff and if they intended to do so over the coming quarter.
Based on the survey results, the Chinese job market is regaining confidence after a rocky beginning this year. Chinese hiring levels were up from 43 percent to 46 percent.
Half of the companies surveyed in China also said that they expected to hire more people in managerial and professional positions in the next quarter.
Companies were also slowing down in firing staff from the previous 32 percent to 30 percent. Nineteen percent said that they were letting staff go in the next quarter.
Meanwhile, India also showed a similar pattern with current hiring levels up from 29 percent to 47 percent.
Overall, of the 32 countries surveyed, the percentage of companies hiring has dropped from 54 percent to 46 percent while the percentage of companies expecting to hire in the coming quarter rose slightly by 1 percent to 44 percent.
