Still too much social baggage in China - 'capitalist roadsters' style venom in the society. Once you make the masses jealous, you have a problem on your hands. Some of my Chinese friends keep quiet about an overseas education. Some of the ABC's just want to look superior. I don't know many Indians but the ones I do seem better balanced with their wealth.

Interesting perceptions. It could also be the case that I have noticed wealthy Chinese are often regarded with suspicion – the assumption is they got their money illegally. This would account for the more disparaging remarks. Also some jealousy amongst Chinese and still some political hardcore that doesn’t like to see capitalism embraced. Indians however tend to have a more transparent and have a more fundamental belief in karma – if someone has done well it was because they were good in a previous life. Consequently more respect is shown to NRI’s than their Chinese counterparts.
