Nov. 19 – Following his visits to China and South Korea, President Barack Obama’s next high-level meeting is with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh when he arrives in Washington for a state visit next week.
The India prime minister will be the first foreign head of the state to officially visit the White House after President Barack Obama swore into office in January.
“I am sure that since the President will have just gotten back from China, and that’ll be fresh on his mind that he will share some of his impressions and thoughts about his visit to China as well,’’ said U.S. State Department spokesman, Ian Kelly
The United States considers India a key ally and major partner and the state visit is expected to further improve their partnership. Washington’s point person for South Asia Robert Blake said in a statement: “We are putting in place a wide range of bilateral cooperation to reflect that level of engagement.”

See a surprsingly positive view of Obama’s recent visit to China from the right-wing British newspaper, the Telegraph:

Quite a contrast with the negativity in the US newspapers.
The US still has a “We’re top and we should be kicking ass” mentality. Because Obama played it more low key, the press seemed to feel it wasn’t positive. What was actually said hasn’t been revealed, so it’s all just conjecture. However Obama does seem to be providing a bit of American humbleness which is probably a good idea right now. We could do without any more ‘axis of evilling’ from an American President at this point in time. – Chris
