Nov. 24 – Myanmar has begun to build a new railroad that will connect its border town Muse with Jie Guo in Yunnan Province, China.
Initial rail track tracing work has already begun with the railway station slated for Sone Kwe village near Lashio-Muse Union Road says China Daily.
Upon completion, the railroad should improve bilateral border trade and transportation routes.
Commercial banks from both sides of the border are already in talks to initiate a direct banking system beginning next year to streamline trade payments. Myanmar is adding one more border trade zone with China in the Yan Lone Chai, Kokang region.
Myanmar channels its exports to China through its border trade zone in Muse selling mostly agricultural, minerals, forest products and timber.
