May 31 – The May issue of DPRK Monthly, the magazine put together by North Korea expert Paul White, is now available for complimentary download.
This issue details the recent China-North Korea bilateral meetings which Chinese President Hu Jintao and North Korean counterpart Kim Jong Il attended in Beijing, the construction of the new Yalu River bridge between the two nations, and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao’s comments on bringing parts of DPRK’s territory into a business model similar to China’s free trade and economic development zones.
The report also highlights the World Health Organization’s new medical conferencing link with Pyongyang, the May international trade fair held in the city, an interview with Felix Abt, the founder of the Pyongyang Business School, the DPRK Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo, the doubling of mobile phone sales in North Korea, aspects of inter-Korea trade, and a general summary of DPRK multilateral business activities.
