Jul. 2 – The latest issue of DPRK Business Monthly is now available for complimentary download.
This issue highlights the offshore oil exploration deal recently signed between London-based energy firm Aminex PLC and North Korea. The company has signed a 10-year contract with the government to search for oil in an area of about 50,681 square kilometers. The eastern coast of North Korea is a “lightly explored area,” but Aminex believes there is “potential for large oil-bearing structures which may involve introducing larger companies as partners at a later date if it is to be explored comprehensively.
The report also highlights China’s latest moves to boost cooperation with the DPRK, North Korea’s IT outsourcing potential, Choson Exchange students travel to the DPRK, UNICEF’s plans to spend close to US$130 million to support children and pregnant and nursing mothers in North Korea, Inter-Korean trade figures, North Korea’s first steps towards going online, environmental protection in the DPRK, news from the Kaesong joint industrial, and a general summary of DPRK multilateral business activities.
