Nov. 26 – The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is holding meetings in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, for talks on the security and economic development of the Central Asian region.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao attended, along with the leaders of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
In meetings held with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Wen stated China would expand cooperation with Tajikistan in economic issues and trade, including electricity, transportation, minerals and border controls, as well as the implementation of a trade agreement between Tajikistan and Xinjiang.
Wen is due to meet with his Kazakhstani counterpart today.
